In the bit, Barack Obama joined Stephen Colbert in a carefully staged dismantling of Trump’s self-described genius. The segment did not function as a revelation of new evidence so much as a cultural intervention: a demonstration of how thin the myth becomes when treated with calm scrutiny rather than outrage.

Obama’s role was central. He did not raise his voice or trade insults. Instead, he adopted the posture he perfected during his presidency — explanatory, slightly amused, and pointedly restrained.
