While lucrative media deals involving public figures are not uncommon, ethics experts note that the circumstances—particularly the proximity of the deal to private meetings between Donald Trump and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos at Mar-a-Lago—raise unavoidable questions about influence, access, and power.

Amazon has denied any impropriety, stating that the documentary was acquired through standard business practices. Still, the optics have proven difficult to ignore.
