Wayne Rooney believes that Arsenal’s style of play has actually been good to watch despite all the criticism around the manager.

The former Premier League striker believes that Arteta has made this Arsenal team more physical and defensively solid, and it’s worked.

Meanwhile, they now have goals from all over the pitch, with every player chipping in with a fair share of work in front of goal.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Rooney said: “Champions are champions, and I have actually really liked how they’ve played this season. You can look at how everyone now wants to play the way Pep Guardiola plays, but he’s tried that.

“Like it might not look like that because we score set pieces or whatnot, but like the manager is so big on being on the front foot, high pressure every game and defending really high.

“Obviously, we’ve won now; it doesn’t matter. But everyone was just like picking at little things, but we’re like it didn’t even make sense.”
